Our Brazilian contributor, Montgomery & Associados, sets out the new proposals for fixed odds sports betting regulation following the announcement on 25 July 2023 of the long awaited provisional measure.

This opens the market for private operators to legally enter the market. The barriers to entry are likely to be high given the proposed licence fees and taxes but the rewards will be significant given the size of the market and anticipated crackdown against unlicensed operators making their investment more secure.
